Penrith backed up an impressive win at West Auckland with a fine 4-1 home victory over Easington Colliery.
The Bonnyblues are finding confidence now as players come back from injury and it’s being reflected on the pitch.
Yet manager Darren Edmondson was at pains to single out his experienced goalkeeper Aaron Taylor for a penalty save which was a key moment in the game
“If that had gone in things might have changed because it would have put them level and given them a boost,” said manager Darren Edmondson.
However his Penrith side responded really well and they had doubled their lead before half-time.
Taylor’s save to deny Bradley Hird came in the 19th minute after James Bell had given the home side the lead seven minutes earlier.
Matthew Moynan charged forward to add the second on 35 minutes and Penrith were well worth their advantage at the break.
When Luke Brown added a third six minutes into the second-half Penrith looked to be cruising but Easington were given hope when Bradley Chisholm scored on 57 minutes.
Again Penrith responded positively and when Ryan Taylor conceded an unfortunate own goal on 61 minutes the hosts were able to cruise through to the final whistle and three more points.
They will be looking for a third successive victory on Saturday when they host West Allotment Celtic.
