Workington Comets young star Antti Vuolas enjoyed a fourth place finish in the weekend’s FIME European Pairs Final at Lonigo.

Paired with Jesse Mustonen, Vuolas scored four and a bonus to help Finland into a commendable fourth place yesterday, Sunday October 21.

Great Britain completed a successful season of international racing with third place– their first ever medal in the event.

Birmingham and Poole star Tom Brennan, who had scored a maximum in the qualifier, was again in superb form with 16 points from six rides.

Brennan received support from Leon Flint (5+1 from four) and Dan Thompson (2 from two) as GB finished four points adrift of winners Denmark, and comfortably ahead of the teams outside the top three.

Their 23-point total left them in a tie with holders Poland, but Brennan lost out to Bartlomiej Kowalski in a run-off for silver.

Edinburgh captain Paco Castagna scored nine for the fifth-placed host nation Italy, whilst Belle Vue duo Norick Blodorn and Vuolas (also Workington) scored eight and 4+1 as their nations finished seventh and fourth respectively.
