EDZ is an outdoor brand based in Maryport specialising in merino clothing and accessories.

10 things you need to know about EDZ

  1. The company was started by James Tilleard in 1995 with redundancy money after being laid off from the nuclear industry.
  2. For the first two years the company traded as Mountain Fox.
  3. EDZ branding started in 1997.
  4. The EDZ name is derived from ‘heads’ ie edz for ‘eads although most people refer to the brand as E.D.Z
  5. Between 1995 and 2004 the business was run from the family garage.
  6. EDZ has been based in an Edwardian sorting office since 2004
  7. EDZ sells direct to the customer through their website and Amazon.
  8. In 2022 EDZ dropped garments made from manmade fibres such as polyester fleeces and base layers in favour of wool.
  9. For the first 10 years all EDZ’s garments were made in Maryport.
  10. EDZ has a retail shop in their Maryport warehouse, open weekdays 9am till 4pm
