- The company was started by James Tilleard in 1995 with redundancy money after being laid off from the nuclear industry.
- For the first two years the company traded as Mountain Fox.
- EDZ branding started in 1997.
- The EDZ name is derived from ‘heads’ ie edz for ‘eads although most people refer to the brand as E.D.Z
- Between 1995 and 2004 the business was run from the family garage.
- EDZ has been based in an Edwardian sorting office since 2004
- EDZ sells direct to the customer through their website and Amazon.
- In 2022 EDZ dropped garments made from manmade fibres such as polyester fleeces and base layers in favour of wool.
- For the first 10 years all EDZ’s garments were made in Maryport.
- EDZ has a retail shop in their Maryport warehouse, open weekdays 9am till 4pm
