Mitchell’s woodworking, engineering & workshop sale last week saw over 700 lots sell for almost £20,000.
The highest selling lot in the sale was a Contax ride-on lawn mower with accessories which made £500.
A Charnwood B350 floor standing bandsaw and a Lincoln Powertec 250c mig welder with helmet and Starparts torch both sold for £300 each.
Vintage tools included a collection of Stanley wood planes which made £190 and a 12-drawer apothecary workshop cabinet sold for £170.
Mitchells said it hopes its success bodes well for its maritime and transport sale, which starts today, Thursday November 7, at 10am.
The first lot to be sold will be an iconic wooden teardrop caravan/camping trailer with an estimate of £600 to £1,000. There’s a two-berth minimalist sleeping area inside, two storage cupboards and a small kitchenette hatch to the rear.
Other highlights include a watercolour painting by Victorian artist William Mackenzie Thomson (1870-1892) depicting a steam powered gunship with an estimate of £80-£120 and a 1922 shipwright’s ship building manual which could make £100 to £200.
Alternatively, you could propel your yacht with a Vetus Bowthruster 7.5kg estimated at £400 to £800.
Vintage travel items include a wooden box of train and bus tickets dating from the early 1900s estimated at £25 to£50. A collection of books detailing Charles Darwin’s expedition on the HMS Beagle to discover The Origin of Species has an affordable estimate of £20 to £40.
