
A group of pupils from a Cumbrian school are showing their support for farmers.
The fifth formers from Austin Friars in Carlisle have made a video urging people to wear their wellies today as farmers protest in London over Government plans to change inheritance tax laws.
From April 2026, inherited agricultural assets worth more than £1m, which were previously exempt, will be liable to the tax at 20%.
Farmers fear it will cripple the industry, forcing farming families to pay huge sums when passing down assets, such as farming equipment and vehicles, to their children.
