There hasn’t been a close-season like it as Workington Town and Whitehaven have created their own version of Swap Shop!
The coaches have switched and several players have also gone from the Fibrus Stadium to the Ortus Rec, or vice versa.
But there’s also been a substantial raid on the community game by the two pro clubs, with several clubs losing up to four players.
Millom, Wath Brow and Kells have been particularly affected.
Kells have lost four senior players – three to Whitehaven and one to Town – and Cumbria Crack’s John Walsh was at the Kells club to talk to coach Peter Smith about how the raid had affected his club.
The pair also chatted about Peter’s career in the game, from BARLA tourist to Whitehaven pro and then coach at Kells.
