Storm Éowyn: A596 closed near Dunmail Park due to debris

The A596 is closed near Dunmail Park due to concerns over debris.

Road closures are in place either side of the A596 next to the retail park for safety as Storm Éowyn continues to hit the county.

Cumbria Fire and Rescue service are in attendance.

Drivers and pedestrians are asked to avoid these routes and access to the retail park is also restricted.

Both Asda and Dunmail Park are closed to the public. Parkway Cinema is also closed and is refunding tickets.

An amber warning for very strong winds is currently in affect as Storm Éowyn hits Cumbria from 6am to 9pm today, Friday January 24.

The Met Office said the storm is likely to bring the strongest winds of winter so far and widespread disruption is expected.
