Public services have been cancelled at Carlisle Cathedral as the precinct has become unsafe.
It is expected further damage will be caused by the storm, including falling trees and debris, which would pose a danger to anyone using the precinct.
There is strictly no access to the cathedral precinct via any of the three entrances today and tomorrow.
The cathedral said instead of public services, clergy will say prayers.
