Cockermouth Chat Group will launch next week, giving people the chance to share memories about significant events or personal memories of life in the town.

The first meeting at the Kirkgate Centre will be held on Thursday, February 6 at 1pm and continue monthly.

Helen Johnston, community projects officer at the Kirkgate, said: “We’re delighted to launch the Cockermouth Chat Group, which will be free and open to all and take place on the first Thursday of every month from 1pm to 3pm.

“It’s intended to be a time to chat and share memories, over a cup of tea or coffee, on topics from food to school days, to work and travel and all sorts in between.

“We’ll have some photos and artefacts from the Cockermouth Heritage Collection out for you to have a look at with a different theme each month.

“You don’t have to be ‘local’ to join in. Just drop in when you can, no need to book.”

Details about the group, and all other events, are on the Kirkgate’s website https://kirkgateartsandheritage.org.uk/
