A Carlisle car park which has been closed since Storm Eowyn is set to reopen this weekend.
The storm caused damage to the temporary canopy over the Sands Centre, forcing the closure of the leisure centre, its car park and the Swifts car park.
The canopy was in place as work is ongoing to replace the auditorium’s roof after RAAC was found in it.
Since the storm, Cubby Construction, on behalf of Cumberland Council, has been removing damaged scaffolding and canopy’s steelwork.
The Sands Centre and its car park reopened to customers on Tuesday, February 4.
Following the completion of the recovery work, the Swifts car park and footpath will reopen on Saturday, February 15.
A small area of the car park will be cordoned off – around five bays – but access will be as normal, the council said.
A Cumberland Council spokesman said: “Now that the final recovery work has been completed, we will assess the impact the storm has had on the project.
!We will endeavour to get the work on the RAAC removal back on track as quickly as possible. It’s too early to say what impact it has had but we will provide updates as soon as we can.”
