A Cumbrian rugby club is going from strength to strength.
Creighton RUFC, based in Carlisle, said it believed that last weekend saw more players wore a team shirt last weekend than ever since it was established in 1927.
The club said: “When our club left Carrs Field in 2006 to move to Parklands the aim was to promote Rugby Union in the area and develop a vibrant youth section.
“Over the years, the club has endured some tough times in line with declining participants of Rugby Union nationally.
“Our woman’s touch team trained on Friday evening.
2On Saturday, our men’s 1st XV defeated Millom RUFC at home. On Sunday, we welcomed Annan Rugby to Parklands.
We fielded teams at U7s, U8s, U9s, U10s and U11s and our U6s put on a training session.

“To top it off our U14s travelled to Kirkby Lonsdale Rugby Union Football Club, with a number of our U13s stepping up and doing the club proud.
“It’s a sad reality that Rugby Union is in decline nationally, and within the county, but that certainly isn’t the case at our little club.
“We must continue to pull together to keep the club growing but we are certainly moving in the right direction and let’s celebrate what is happening.
“Thank you to all the volunteers, coaches and families involved. Let’s keep this great little club growing and providing a safe and inclusive place for everyone to enjoy themselves.”
