An online fundraiser has been launched to help the family of a Millom historian, who died on Sunday.
Duane Farren was a passionate advocate of the town’s history, educating and inspiring many in the community with talks, walking tours and heritage digs.
Through his incredible dedication, his contributions to Millom Heritage and Arts Centre, Millom of Yesteryear, Millom & District Local History, and beyond have left a lasting impact.
Duane was also a devoted family man and a proud sportsman, supporting Millom Rugby League, always cheering the team on from across the wall at home games.
His warmth, generosity, and unwavering support for others made him a cherished member of the community.
The fundraiser has been launched for Duane’s family – Sharon, Megan and Leah – and organisers said it was what he would have done for theirs.
They said: “We are raising funds to help support them through this heartbreaking loss.
“The fundraiser will be open for a month, and any contribution, no matter how small, will be deeply appreciated. If you can, please donate and share this page to honour Duaneās memory and support his loved ones.
“Duane has created a legacy as our local historian, we will never forget him.”
