A cancer charity which will benefit from part of the proceeds of the auction of Hairy Biker Dave Myers’ motorcycle has set out how the donation will help patients in Cumbria and north Lancashire.
The BSA Goldstar, ridden by Dave on his final TV series Go West, raised £15,800 when it was sold at an auction held at the National Motorbike Museum in Birmingham.
Dave died in February 2024 aged 66. The bike was bought by Si Harrison, a friend of the Barrow-born TV personality.
Proceeds of the sale will go to NSPCC Childline, The Institute of Caner Research and CancerCare North Lancashire and South Cumbria.
Claire Mason, CancerCare’s head of fundraising and marketing, said: “We are absolutely honoured to receive part of the proceeds from the sale of Dave’s beloved BSA Goldstar and we are delighted to hear that Dave’s friend, Si, is now the proud new owner of such a treasure.

The funds received from the sale will make such a difference to the lives of local children and adults who are facing the devastating impact of a cancer diagnosis.
“CancerCare are aware that cancer affects so many people, especially the person receiving the diagnosis, but also the friends and family around them. We will use these proceeds to continue supporting people affected by cancer, as well as those impacted by life-shortening illness and bereavement.”
Last year thousands of bikers travelled to Barrow, Dave Myers’ home town, to mark his life. Last month his widow Liliana told Cumbria Crack how she was looking forward to the second event due to be held later this year.
