A West Cumbrian trio will attempt a 58k triathlon to raise cash for three organisations.

Alan Murray, Martyn Wilson and Ryan Long are aiming to complete a 5k run at Workington parkrun, 1k swim, 42k bike ride and a 10k run to finish on Saturday April 19.

They are raising money for Bee Unique, Derwent Park Rangers and Seaton Under-13s football team.

Martyn said: “I chose Bee Unique as they are a fantastic local charity who have helped members of my own family as well as some good friends.

“I believe they provide an amazing service for people who have an autism diagnosis and want to help them continue the great work they are doing.”

Ryan said: “I choose Seaton Under-13s. My eldest joined two years ago as shy young boy. This team has brought himself out of his shell.

“The kids there have so much time for each other and completely committed to the team. It’s a great thing for the kids to do and you can clearly see the enjoyment on every kid’s face when they walk on that pitch.”

Alan said: “I chose Derwent Park Rangers as I am a big Rugby League fan, but this club which was only recently relaunched after it previously existed many years ago.

“It is an all inclusive community club who invites all children what ever skill and ability they are welcome to join up with a great team of volunteers especially my old coach at Salterbeck Storm, Vince McNicholas, who was a great mentor and friend to him, together with his wife Lana.”
