Tasty ties in Whitehaven Cup

The Whitehaven Cup was the main event In the Cumberland County League on Saturday as the competition had reached the quarter final stage with three tasty ties.

With all ties featuring Premier Division clubs taking on Division One teams, Mirehouse from the league below their opponents Unisun Athletic managed to get a 2-2 draw thanks to goals from Lachlan Leeson and Nicky McAllister.

Liam Graham got himself a brace for Unisun who won the tie 5-4 on penalties.

A Darren Rule hat trick helped Maryport Athletic from the Premier Division get past Division One outfit Dearham United with a 4-0 victory in a game which saw Logan Bosward also net for Maryport.

Goals from Nathan Walkingshaw, Connor Woodend and Owen Woods with a double put Whitehaven Miners Social into the semi final with a 4-1 win against Windscale Reserves with their goal scorer being Jack Harrison.

Elsewhere on Saturday, in the group stage of the League Cup 2, Jameslee Reynolds who can’t stop scoring for Unisun Athletic Youth Development got another three goals for his club to help them to a 3-0 victory against Whitehaven Miners Social Development.

Aspatria v Bransty Rangers in the League Cup 1 didn’t go ahead with a home walkover being awarded.
