Two teenagers were rescued after being cut off by the tide in the Walney Channel.
Emergency services were called out to the incident yesterday, Friday April 25, after a boat owner spotted the pair by the old footbridge.
They had not realised the water was coming in around them.
The Coastguard helicopter, Furness Coastguard Millom and Arnside & South Lakes Coastguard rescue teams and Barrow RNLI were called out.
Barrow RNLI said its volunteer crew launched the inshore lifeboat at around 7.45pm.
They reached the scene within 10 minutes and during that time the boat owner, from Walney, launched his own vessel to rescue the teens.
Barrow RNLI recovered the teens from the boat owner and transported them back to the waiting Coastguard.
They were cold and wet and checked over by paramedics before being returned to their waiting parents.
Furness Coastguard said: “We have been called to several incidents in Walney Channel where people have been cut off by the tide.
“Before venturing onto the sands, please check the tide times and ensure you have a means of communication.
“Luckily the two people had mobile phones which appeared to survive undamaged.”
