Suspected shoplifters at a Penrith store were caught in Carlisle – thanks to their van’s registration.
Cumbria police’s Eden Neighbourhood Policing Team were called to Go Outdoors by staff with a report of shoplifting.
The vehicle the suspected shoplifters used was registered in Carlisle.
Eden police said: “We headed to Carlisle in the hope of finding the suspects.
“We spotted the vehicle entering the city, two men were searched and arrested, the vehicle uplifted as used in crime and one of the men had a knife.
“Don’t come to Eden to commit crime as you have found out we will catch you.”
