A man has been banned from Carlisle city centre for five years – and can only go to the hospital for treatment.
Andrew Bell, 48, of no fixed address, has been handed the five-year criminal behaviour order by Carlisle Magistrates Court after he was sentenced to seven days in prison and fined for a public order offence.
The order means he cannot enter the city centre, unless he is on public transport.
If he goes to Carlisle Railway Station, he must have a valid train ticket or immediately buy a train ticket – and he must board the train within an hour.
If Bell is arriving into the railway station from elsewhere, he must immediately leave the station.
The order also means he cannot visit the city’s Cumberland Infirmary, unless he has a pre-arranged medical appointment or for treatment after an accident or an emergency.
The order was secured by Carlisle’s Neighbourhood Policing Team.
Cumbria constabulary said anyone who saw Bell breaking the terms of his order should contact them immediately on 101.
The punishment for breaking the terms of an order can be up to five years in prison.
