Windscale Reserves are Cumberland County League Cup 2 winners after beating Whitehaven AFC Reserves 2-1 in the final.

At the Falcon Complex in Egremont, Sam Wordsworth opened the scoring for Windscale 30 minutes into the match, with Leo Brennan doubling their lead nine minutes later.

Despite Whitehaven pulling one back in the 73rd minute through Luke Blaney, Windscale held on to lift the cup.

On Tuesday evening, Wigton Harriers advanced into the semi-final of the Ken Glover Memorial Cup after a 3-1 victory against Keswick.

Nathan Cox, Luke Carruthers and Finley Carruthers were all on the scoresheet for Wigton with Stephen Moss the scorer of Keswick’s goal.

Maryport Athletic booked themselves a Whitehaven Cup final spot after defeating Whitehaven Miners Social 7-1 in the semi-final on Wednesday night.

Goals from Darren Rule, Aaron Hoad-Williams, Ellis Short, Ciaran Laverty and Ethan Weir with a hat trick means that Maryport will face either Wigton Harriers or Unisun Athletic in the final as they search for their forth bit of silverware this campaign. Nathan Walkingshaw scored Miners goal.

Tomorrow, Saturday May 10, Aspatria and Workington Juniors will go head-to-head at the Falcon Complex in the League Cup 1 final, kick off is 2pm and Unisun Athletic will host Wigton Harriers in the Ken Glover Memorial Cup semi-final with both teams aiming to reach the final where they will face Whitehaven Miners Social. Kick-off is also 2pm.
