A tough weekend for the Comets sees them crash out of the northern BSN Series group to Redcar and Scunthorpe, after disappointing back to back defeats this weekend.
It comes after Scunthorpe slammed the Comets 61-29 in the BSN Series with Steve Worrall and Luke Harrison both scoring paid maximums at the Eddie Wright Raceway on Friday night.
The Scorpions dominated on their home circuit to end their group campaign on a high.

With both results this weekend favouring current BSN holders Poole, it means they are guaranteed a semi-final place as best runners-up after finishing second in the Southern section.
Former Comet Harrison was unbeaten at senior level for the first time with 11+1, Worrall picked up 10+2 and Jake Allen scored 10+3 in a solid team display which saw them record twelve race wins and eight 5-1s.

Antti Vuolas top-scored with nine for the Comets, and Tate Zischke showed good speed all night scoring 7 for his efforts.
Saturday saw very-strong league favourites, Redcar just need to reach 31 points on the day to be sure of topping the group standings.

On a very tough day for the Comets, Redcar came out strong with four 5-1 advantages in the first five heats, leaving the Comets a mountain to climb in the second half of the meeting.
Antti Vuolas, was once again the Comets top scorer on eight points. As well as Jacob Hook and Jye Etheridge finishing on 6+1 – a strong Redcar side capitalised on their top three powerhouse of Charles Wright (10+2), Erik Riss (12), and Danny King who maxed out with 12 points.

The Comets managed to stem the Redcar tide with a number of 3-3’s and 4-2 heat advantages in the middle of the meeting, but the early onslaught from the Bears ultimately put pay to the Comets hopes of progressing to the semi-finals.
On an incident filled afternoon which saw flying Finn Antti Vuolas withdraw after a Heat 11 incident involving Charles Wright, Finn said: “Thanks to the fans for their support.

“I suffered two crashes. Got some cuts, bruises and the whole body’s pretty sore, but luckily nothing seems seriously injured.”
Comets team boss James Denham added: “This weekend was obviously very disappointing and we can only apologise to the fans, but we sincerely thank you for your fantastic support nevertheless.

“At Scunthorpe we were beaten by a better team, a more experienced team around there and fair play to them.
“But Saturday was even more dismaying, they were far superior out of the gates and it something we need to work on going into our next meetings in a couple of weeks against Edinburgh.

“We all know the performance was not good enough and all the riders know they need to improve. No excuses.”
