
Firefighters were called to tackle a wildfire near Cumbria’s RAF Spadeadam.
It said the fire broke out around 2.5km north of the range, in north Cumbria, yesterday, Tuesday, May 13.
It said: “The fire crew from RAF Spadeadam attended, and requested back up from the local authority.
“Subsequently, crews from Brampton, Haltwhistle, Hexham and Bellingham attended, and continued to bring the fire under control.
“The fire did not spread onto the range, but was contained in an area around 1.5sq km.
“In the current weather conditions, we join with our colleagues from Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service and Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service in requesting anyone out in the countryside is mindful of the risks of wildfires.”
