Part of a road has been closed in Whitehaven after a sinkhole appeared.
The hole, on Coach Road, has forced Cumberland Council to issue an emergency road closure order.
United Utilities is carrying out repairs following the sewer network issue that occurred late on Tuesday afternoon.
Due to the depth of the repair – around two metres – the closure may remain in place for up to a week.
Access to St Begh’s School and the garage is still available via the diversion route.
Diversions are in place via:
- A5094 Flatt Walks
- B5345 Preston Street
- C4036 Irish Street
