Land at Mountain View Farm

Land at a Lake District farm sold for 50% above its guide price at a recent auction.

H&H Land & Estates sold 28.87 acres of land at Mountain View Farm, Kirkby-in-Furness, achieving a total of £184,000, well above the overall guide price of £120,000.

Offered as a whole or in two separate lots, the sale attracted strong interest from local farmers, landowners, and investors, with both lots selling either at or above the top end of their respective guide prices.

  • Lot 1: 17.79 acres of pasture, meadow and amenity land – Sold privately at the sale room, near the top end of the guide price, which was £85,000
  • Lot 2: 11.08 acres of high-quality meadow land – Sold for £104,000

The auction was held at the Community Hall in Grizebeck.

Colin Tomlinson, consultant director & chartered surveyor at H&H Land & Estates, said: “Farmers are increasingly looking for opportunities to extend their acreage and generate additional income, and these two lots clearly provided those opportunities.

“The strong level of interest and final sale values reflect the continued demand for well-located, versatile land.”
