The first round ties in the Knock-Out Cup competition in the West Cumbria Mixed Triples League took place on Tuesday June 3 and the results were as follows:
Vulcan Park 2 Workington A 7; Harris Park A 5 Workington B 4; Croft 2 Whitehaven A 7; Whitehaven B 9 Egremont 0; Maryport 7 Cleator Moor 2; Seaton 6 Harris Park B 3.
West Cumbria Fours League
After their surprise home defeat in their last game against Whitehaven A, last year’s champions, returned to winning ways on Friday June 6, with a 7-0 victory at Cleator Moor.
Fitz Park remain undefeated to date, having won 7-0 at Vulcan Park, a win which puts them just four points behind Workington A.
The two teams are due to play each other at Workington next Friday (13 June). A good example of how often a score line does not reflect the closeness of a game came in the match between Seaton and Maryport. Although Seaton won 5-2, on two rinks the score was 12-12 and on the other it was 18-17.
Elsewhere last Friday Whitehaven B won 5-2 away against Workington B.
