A sheep and three lambs stuck on a roof had to be rescued by firefighters.
Penrith firefighters said they received a call that the animals were stuck on a two-storey roof.
Penrith Fire Station said: “This animal rescue was a first for us. En route, we weren’t quite sure what we’d find when we arrived.
“On arrival we found one sheep and three lambs stuck on a roof.
“Fire crews used ladders and reaching poles, and along with a local farmer who came to assist, we safety got the sheep down and returned them to the field they’d come from.”
It was the third callout for the Penrith crew today, Monday, June 9. They also attended a call to a suspected building fire, which turned out to be a false alarm with good intent and were on standby for cover around Carlisle while the city crews were attending another job.
