Coastguard rescue teams were called out after a sailing boat was spotted on a West Cumbrian shore.
Whitehaven and Maryport Coastguard Rescue Teams were alerted to the vessel, which was aground off Siddick in Workington.
Whitehaven Coastguard Rescue Team said: ” We were tasked to attend and confirm the safety of the crew.
“On arrival there was no one aboard the vessel and personal belongings were on the beach next to it.
“We passed an update to our operations room and our officer in charger initiated a hasty shoreline and hub search of the immediate area.

“Meanwhile, swift enquiries by our operations room staff quickly enabled contact with the lone skipper, who confirmed they were safe and well but had left the immediate area.
“We secured the vessel and placed it at anchor, with the skipper returning to recover the vessel.”
