Awards to celebrate those making a difference in equality, diversity and inclusion are returning for their eighth year.
Nominations are now open for the Diverse Cumbria Awards.
Launched in 2016, the awards highlight those who are actively breaking down barriers, tackling prejudice, and create more accessible, welcoming spaces for everyone, whether that’s through volunteering, education, community projects, or workplace initiatives.
Event organiser Ben Vollans said: “We get asked all the time, ‘Who can I nominate?’ and the answer is simple – anyone.
“If you know someone who deserves to be recognised, nominate them. It could be someone you work with, someone you volunteer alongside, or even yourself if you’re proud of what you’re doing.
“The point is: let’s celebrate the people making Cumbria better for everyone.”
There are nine categories open for nominations:
- Business Champion
- Diversity Event
- Educational Champion
- Organisation Champion
- Positive Role Model
- Positive Young Person
- Public Sector Champion
- Volunteer Champion
- Lifetime Achievement Award
Lead sponsor is Sellafield Ltd and other sponsors include BAE Systems, which is sponsoring the Educational Champion Award for the fourth year, Nuclear Waste Services, sponsoring the Positive Role Model Award, and Razzamataz Theatre Schools, which is returning as Programme Sponsor for a third year.
Access4U joins this year as Event Sponsor.
Nominations are open now at www.diversecumbriaawards.co.uk/nominations and will close on Friday 25th July at 6 pm.
