Workington Comets Australian youngster Tate Zischke earned praise from Belle Vue boss Mark Lemon last night.
Rising at reserve for the Aces, Zischke only scored four points – two seconds and two lasts in his four rides – but it impressed Lemon.
After the 48-42 win at Birmingham, Lemon said: “Tate’s performance shone through tonight which didn’t really reflect in the points he got.”
It was their fourth away win of the season in the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership and the Aces’ popular German star Norick Blodorn delivered one of his best performances in British Speedway.
He was unbeaten in his first four rides which saw him defeat the Brummies’ top riders Tobiasz Musielak and Matej Zagar.
It was a timely effort as the Aces top two skipper Brady Kurtz and West Cumbrian Dan Bewley were not as dominant as they so often are.
Bewley only had two wins in his five rides as he earned nine points while Kurtz scored 8 + 1 and only one win in four outings.
Blodorn, who scored 11+1, was involved in 5-1s with skipper Kurtz in Heats 5 and 11, and the visitors went 12 points up before a late rally from the hosts saw them halve the deficit.
Lemon said: “We came here to do a job, and I was really impressed with the boys. It hasn’t been a happy hunting ground for us in the past at Birmingham.
“Norick being fit certainly helps. Tate’s (Zischke) performance shone through tonight which didn’t really reflect in the points he got.
“But it’s a team effort, we were solid and that’s very important when we start coming to the business end of the season.
“It was good to see Norick deliver such a strong performance because he has been under the weather. He’s proved a point that he can actually produce a strong display.”
