A Lake District walker was airlifted to hospital after falling 22ft.
Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team was called out at around 1.25pm on Saturday, July 26, to the Corridor Route on Scafell Pike.
The team said: “The walker took a nasty fall from steep ground, picking up cuts to his arms and legs, plus possible rib fractures.
“The tasking had quickly been transferred from Coniston Mountain Rescue Team when the location was confirmed to be in Wasdale.
“The Great North Air Ambulance was dispatched quickly, reached the walker first and began medical treatment.
“However, they still needed help to extract the walker, so requested a Coastguard helicopter with winching capability.
“The Coastguard responded from Caernarfon and performed a winch evacuation, before transferring to hospital.
“Thanks to both helicopter crews for some excellent multi-agency teamwork to get the fastest possible help for the walker. We hope he recovers quickly from his injuries.”
As volunteers were at the first call, the team was called out at around 2.40pm to a second incident, also on the Corridor Route.
A walker had fallen, and injured her ankle and was now unable to bear any weight.
The team said: “The team leader was able to divert some team members to this location and remote rescue medical technicians made an assessment.
“After splinting the ankle for stability and pain relief, the walker was transferred to the team stretcher.
“The very long carry to Lingmell Col and then down to Brackenclose was made safely, before handing over to the rest of her walking group for transfer to hospital. We wish the walker a quick recovery from her injury.”
