Penrith drew for the second time last night, but once again squandered a two-goal lead.
On Saturday, West Auckland scored twice in the last 15 minutes to cancel out the Bonnyblues hard-earned advantage.
Then at Frenchfield it was Birtley Town who came from 2-0 behind to earn a point with two second half goals.
Luke Hunter had struck twice in the 26th and 31st minutes to give Penrith a deserved half-time lead.
It could have been better for Jim Nichols’ side as they felt they should have been awarded a third goal but the referee’s assistant had flagged for a debatable offside.
It proved costly because Scott Heslop pulled one back for Birtley after 58 minutes and that changed the game.
The visitors grew in confidence and levelled on 74 minutes through James Proctor.
Penrith are back in action on Friday night when they travel to Pickering at the start of the FA Cup competition.
