Kendal Calling is back and this year it’s celebrating its 20th birthday.

If you’re spending this weekend in the fields then we’d love to see your photos, videos and hear your tales from the site.

Whether it’s pictures with your mates, family, or an interesting tale or celebration on site – let us know by emailing us at [email protected].

Over 40,000 people are expected to descend on the three-day festival at Lowther Deer Park, just outside Penrith, which starts today, Thursday July 31, and will come to a close on Sunday August 3.

Headliners this year include Courteeners, Fatboy Slim, The prodigy and Kaiser Chiefs – want to find out when your favourite band is playing? Read on here.

Wristband exchanges will start at 9am on Thursday and close at 9pm while on Friday they will start at 8am and end at 9pm.

On Saturday, the exchange opens at 10am until 8pm and Sunday it will open from 10am until 6pm.

Cumbria police said it has been have been working closely with event organisers, local authorities and other partner agencies to make sure all attending the festival have a safe and enjoyable time.

It is expected that there will be some travel disruption with busier than normal roads in the Eden area.

Those travelling are advised to plan ahead, be patient and allow extra time for journeys.

There are 40mph speed restrictions on the A66 from Kemplay Bank roundabout due to roadworks and festival-goers are advised to allow extra time for travelling.

Organisers have asked people arriving today to do so at their leisure.

If arriving on Friday, organisers recommended avoiding arriving between noon and 6pm to avoid the bulk of traffic in the local area owing to the Center Parcs changeover day, end of week work traffic and the influx of festivalgoers.
