Two men have been arrested after a stolen car crashed through the gates of Whitehaven Marina.
Police were called at around 8.20pm on Wednesday, July 30, to reports of a car crashing through the gates, hitting other cars and the occupants running from the scene.
A 25-year-old was arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking and a 21-year-old was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, failure to stop for police, dangerous driving and failure to provide a specimen for analysis.
Both men remain in custody and are from the North East.

A witness who watched the events unfold on the harbourside said: “We heard the crash of the gates, the car must have been automatic, because it kept going forward.
“It crashed through the gates and then was stopped by crashing into another car on the marina.
“If the car wasn’t there it would have gone into the marina building.”
