Freemasons from across Cumbria faced their fears this weekend as they abseiled down the iconic Freemasons’ Hall in London raising vital funds for the Masonic Charitable Foundation 2027 Festival.
Leading the charge was John Fielding, assistant head of Cumberland and Westmorland Freemasons.
He was the first to step over the edge and was joined by a team of other Cumbrians, including the head of Cumberland and Westmorland Freemasons, Nick Wilson, whose support and encouragement inspired the group throughout the challenge.
Several wives of Freemasons also took part.
Neil Dixon spokesman for Cumbria Freemasons, said: “The abseil was a real test of nerve, but every step down that wall reminded us why we were here, to make a difference. It was inspiring to see so many members, families, and even our mascot bear come together for such an important cause.”
Donations to support the abseilers and the MCF 2027 Festival can still be made here.
A brilliant example of Freemasonry in the community
