Cumbria police has joined a nationwide initiative, in partnership with Amazon, to provide vital support to domestic abuse survivors.
Amazon has donated emergency grab bags filled with essential items to help people fleeing abusive situations.
The bags – available for both adults and children – contain toiletries, a mobile phone, writing materials and items designed to offer immediate relief.
Detective Superintendent Matt Scott, from the force’s public protection unit, said: “We are grateful to Amazon for their support. This initiative is a lifeline for those who leave everything behind to escape abuse.
“The grab bags offer more than just practical help – they show survivors that they are not alone and that their safety and dignity matter.
“We know that reporting abuse can be incredibly difficult, but we want people to know they are not alone. If you are being subjected to any form of domestic abuse, please report this to police and we can work with trusted safeguarding agencies to support you.”
Cumbria’s Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner David Allen said: “This is a brilliant initiative to be a part of. So often, victims have to leave everything behind for their own safety.
“Having a lifeline, such as these grab bags, provides a moment of relief during an incredibly traumatic experience.
