A suspected shoplifter gave police a run for their money in Penrith.
Traders in the town alerted police using the Penrith Show Watch scheme, rather than calling 999, which allowed police to start investigations immediately.
Eden Police said: “Eagle eyed officers performed quick time CCTV enquiries and traced the man to Penrith town centre and guided a PC in his direction.
“The man decided to run, but he wasn’t fast enough!”
The man has been arrested and is due to be charged with two counts of shoplifting.
