An artist-led charity which promotes work to highlight the environment around Barrow, wants help to mark its 25th anniversary.
Art Gene will mark the milestone in 2027 and it wants to celebrate its legacy and look to the future.
Artists or collectives are being urged to get in touch to take part in the charity’s second 25-day residency by designing and developing a concept or reimagined work that responds to Art Gene’s physical spaces within the Nan Tait Centre, the Grade II-listed building, home to Art Gene’s studios, galleries and production areas.
Maddi Nicolson of Art Gene, said: “It’s wonderful to be planning for this major milestone and we can’t think of a better way of celebrating than commissioning artists to produce new work in Cumbria.
“Art Gene’s success has been based on creative collaborations with talented people all over the UK and I’m really looking forward to seeing the response we get to this open call.”
“This is a unique opportunity to engage with Art Gene’s portfolio, ethos, and longstanding focus on sustainability – to build on a legacy of extraordinary projects that explore the relationship between people, place, and the environment.”
