A group of well-prepared teens walking in the Lake District were forced to call 999 after they couldn’t find one of their party.

Earlier this month, the four 15 to 16-year-olds had devised a two-day adventure, using Google Earth and OS maps which involved walking from Thirlmere to camp at Black Moss Pot in Langstrath.

The well prepared young men stopped for a rest at Low White Stones at High Raise but one of them carried on.

After a short rest the three continued but were unable to locate their friend.

They searched and shouted for a long time and with no phone signal to their friend they became increasingly concerned prompting a 999 call for mountain rescue.

Keswick Mountain Rescue Team was scrambled.

Keswick Mountain Rescue Team said: “The team searched the main paths from Stonethwaite to Stake Pass via Black Moss Pot and Low White Stones via Greenup Gill.

“As the scale of the search was starting to escalate the missing young man was located back at Low White Stones having descended to Black Moss Pot before climbing back up again. All four were happily reunited in the valley and taken to the nearest campground.”
