In a tale of two halves, a pair of unlicensed drivers had their cars seized in the same day in Windermere.

South Lakes Police first stopped a red Corsa in the town on Tuesday, August 19, as the female driver was known to be using it with only a provisional licence.

While police waited for the recovery vehicle to arrive and seize the car, her male friend approached them.

The male offered the female driver his assistance, and they walked off together.

Just two hours later – police spotted a white Fiesta driving into the town, with the same female driver in the passenger seat and her male friend driving.

It turned out that her male friend also only has a provisional licence – which resulted in police seizing his car also.

A South Lakes Police spokesman said: “Both will now have substantial points on their respective provisional licences along with a fine and of course the hefty charge to get the vehicles back from storage.”
