A group of children in Penrith handed in a canister of nitrous oxide to police after spotting teenagers using it.
One of the town’s PCSO’s was on a routine foot patrol in Castle Park when the group approached him.
The youngsters gave the officer the nitrous oxide canister – also known as laughing gas – for safe keeping and told the PCSO that they had seen older children using it earlier in the day.
Eden Police said: “Nitroxide is illegal to possess outside a medical environment and is a class C drug.
“Parents, please have a word with your children about the dangers of using illegal drugs.”
