A man has been arrested in South Cumbria after he was caught driving twice over the legal alcohol limit.
South Lakes Police acted on information received that a male driver of a car was under the influence of alcohol while heading into the Ulverston area, yesterday, Saturday August 23.
Officers stopped the driver, a 41-year-old man, who was arrested on the roadside after testing positive for excess alcohol.
The man then provided a breath specimen that was found to be twice the legal limit while in custody in Barrow.
He was also found to be uninsured, which resulted in his car being seized.
A spokesman said: “Go to Cumbria they said! It’s beautiful they said! What they didn’t say was have a few drinks on the way, whilst driving a motor vehicle!
“Here in Cumbria, we take road safety very seriously and will do our utmost to protect our residents and other visitors to the area. Please enjoy your time here responsibly.”
