Barrow Raiders produced a fine performance at Doncaster to win their Championship clash 32-22.
They still hold out hopes of making the play-offs but that is not in their own hands.
“The players were magnificent today and it sets up a massive game at Halifax next week.
“We have lost games recently we shouldn’t have because we have imploded but this was different as we saw it through very well,” said coach Paul Crarey.
It took only seven minutes for Barrow to take the lead when Luke Cresswell set up Luke Broadbent for the first try which Ryan Shaw converted.
On 14 minutes Barrow doubled their lead when Shane Toal made a smart interception about 10 metres off his own line and went the distance to touch down under the posts. Shaw converted.
It was a sensational start by Barrow and got better.
On 17 minutes the Raiders kept the ball alive on last tackle and when Andrew Bulman took the last pass he kicked inside towards the posts where Ryan Johnston surged through to collect and score. Shaw added his third conversion.
Shellshocked Doncaster finally offered a serious threat and on 23 minutes Pauli Pauli crashed over for their first try which Connor Robinson converted.
But Barrow had the final word of the half when Shaw took a pass from Johnson deep inside his own half and raced away to score try number four which he converted.
Ten minutes into the second-half and Barrow went over again. Johnson put up a bomb near the Doncaster posts and in the subsequent scramble Ellia Robson managed to squeeze over for the try which Shaw converted.
Five minutes later the Dons responded with a try in the corner by Reece Lyne which was converted by Robinson.
Three minutes Doncaster went in again as the Barrow defence got in a tangle and Matagi scored. Robinson’s conversion made it 18-30.
Ten minutes from time Lyne got in for his second when he followed up a huge Crossfield kick but Robinson could not convert.
Both teams were reduced to 12 men three minutes from the end with Robinson and Johnston sent to the bin after a general fracas.
The final points of the game came from a Shaw penalty a minute from time.
