A woman using a mobility scooter was rescued after she fell 10 metres off a Lake District path.

Keswick Mountain Rescue team were called to Latrigg, on Saturday August 24, at 2.48pm, to a woman who had experienced a brake failure on her mobility scooter.

The woman had been out on a forestry road in the area and the brake failure caused her scooter to roll back and off the edge of the road.

It caused her to backwards somersault off the path, flipping her off the scooter.

The woman came to a rest about 10 metres down the slope and was trapped beneath the scooter.

Rescue teams said miraculously, the woman was unharmed, as she was fortunate enough to end up in the footwell area between the seat and handlebars.

Cumbria Police were first on scene and managed to move the scooter off the woman.
