Boosted by victory in the FA Vase last week, Holker Old Boys look to revive their faltering start to the NW Counties North Division season.
They won their opening two league games to top the early table but then lost the next two.
A good win in the Vase last week against Ryton and Crawcrook Albion of the Northern League provided a timely confidence booster.
Tomorrow they travel to League newcomers MSB Woolton who have one point from their opening three games.
However, on Wednesday night they scored a fine 5-1 home win over Garstang in the Edward Case Cup.
In the Northern League both Penrith and Carlisle City are looking to pick up the pieces again after midweek defeats.
Beaten 2-0 at Easington Colliery, City travel to North Shields who were 2-1 winners over Penrith on Wednesday.
Shields are up to third in the Division One table but have played more games (9) than any other side and have lost four games.
City were without several key players in mid-week and manager Dan Kirkup expects to be stronger for this one.
Penrith’s inability to hold onto leads is proving to be the biggest factor in them only occupying 15th place.
They have taken the lead in every game they’ve played but have only managed to win one out of eight with four draws.
They entertain Marske United tomorrow, a team who seem to be finding form after a slow start to their campaign.
In Luke Hunter (10) they have the top scorer in the league. Apart from the top two of Whitley Bay and Boro Rangers, the Bonny Blues are the next in the leading scorers list.
In the Wearside League, Windscale have won their last two games after an expected slow start to the season.
The departure of seven players meant manager Stephen Fawcett had to reconstruct his squad.
Tuesday’s fine 2-1 win at Washington, after coming from behind, was evidence that the new-look Atoms can start to make an impression.
Tomorrow they travel to Shotton Colliery who rather surprisingly only have a point from their first six games.
In the West Lancashire League there’s an important game for Millom as they attempt to bounce back from their first defeat of the season – 4-1 at home to Hurst Green.
They travel to Chorley to tackle Coppull United who finished bottom last season, were saved from relegation and so far have won one game and are next to bottom.
Hurst Green gave Dave Allan’s side a lesson in chance-taking on Saturday and he will be looking for a quick start from his side – and an early goal.
Cleator Moor Celtic bounced back from their derby defeat to Whitehaven by putting seven goals past Coppull.
It was the perfect response and they have another home game tomorrow.
Blackpool Wren Rovers are the visitors, sitting mid-table with four wins so far from eight games.
They lost 1-0 at home on Tuesday to Hurst Green and have now played two more games than Celtic.
Whitehaven, meanwhile, couldn’t follow-up that fine win over Celtic, losing 4-3 at home to promoted Astley and Buckshaw United.
But there was more woe for manager Jon Karl Benson who has had to contend with player unavailability so far.
He had lost three players with injury by the 65th minute and in the end a 3-0 half-time lead turned into a 4-3 defeat.
Tomorrow they entertain CMB, last season’s runners-up, who aren’t making the running this time round.
The first eight games have produced just one win and three draws for the Bolton side.
Finally Milnthorpe Corinthians are still the only club without a point.
They travel to Rossendale to face a side who lie third bottom with four points from their eight games.
