Two men and a woman have appeared in court accused of being involved in a Penrith pub assault which left the victim with head injuries.
Jordan Chambers, 28, Andrew Hall, 42 and Joanne Catherine Scott, 32, jointly face a charge which alleges that they unlawfully and maliciously caused grievous bodily harm to a man.
The charge is said to arise out of an incident at The Pinny on Burrowgate, on June 14 last year.
Chambers, Hall and Scott appeared side-by-side in the dock at Carlisle Magistrates’ Court this morning.
None of the three entered a plea to the charge during a short hearing in front of a deputy district judge.
Giving a brief outline to the court, prosecutor Bilal Saeed alleged that the man had been assaulted by three individuals. It is alleged he was punched twice by one person, pushed to the ground by a second and thereafter punched to the face by a third.
It is alleged the three defendants were the assailants.
His injuries were said to comprise a laceration to the back of the head — requiring stapling — an injury to his lip and prolonged period of reduced consciousness.
Deputy district judge Roger Lowe sent the case to Carlisle Crown Court.
Chambers, of Chase Park, Penrith; Hall, of Carlisle Street, Barrow and Scott, previously of Eden Mount, Penrith, and latterly of Halifax, are all due to appear in front of a crown court judge on September 29 for a plea and trial preparation hearing.
In the meantime they have been granted unconditional bail.
