A man and two women have appeared in court accused of burgling a Whitehaven home, with a baseball bat, and stealing cockapoo puppy.
Peter Jim Woolaghan, 24, jointly faces one charge along with 32-year-old Naomi Louise Doran and Sophie Kennedy, 30.
This charge alleges aggravated burglary – that they entered a residential address on Cumberland Road in Whitehaven as trespassers, and stole a puppy; and that at the time of the alleged burglary they were in possession of a weapon of offence — a baseball bat.
The burglary is said to have occurred on August 8 this year and involved a cockapoo puppy.
Woolaghan and Doran, both of Kinniside Place, Cleator Moor; and Kennedy, of Brakeside Gardens, Whitehaven, appeared at Carlisle Crown Court this morning.
During a hearing in front of Judge Nicholas Barker, they each pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The trio are next due to stand trial in front of a crown court jury.
This hearing is due to take place in the week of November 3this year and, it is estimated, will last three to four days.
In the meantime, Woolaghan remains remanded in custody, while Doran and Kennedy are on bail.
