People who want to get rid of their old sports kit can cash in at a sale being held in West Cumbria next weekend.
Cockermouth’s Kirkgate Centre will hold its Kirk Kit sporting goods sales spectacular next weekend.
Kirk Kit represents the centre’s second sporting goods sale, based on the same formula that proved so popular last year and also has made its Cockfrock event such a big annual hit.
Kirkgate general manager Emma Heys said: “After the success of last year’s event, we’re delighted to bring Kirk Kit back to give people another chance to sell unwanted sports and exercise equipment.
“The range and diversity of the kit, footwear and clothing that we got last year was great and we’re confident we’ll have a similar response for potential buyers to enjoy next weekend.
“It’ll again be the same format as Cockfrock, but for clothing and equipment for all sports, outdoor activities, camping, water activities, cycling and more. There will be men’s and women’s equipment on sale, for all ages, adult and children.”
Kirk Kit takes place on Saturday, September 27 from 10am to 6pm and Sunday, September 28 from 10am to noon, with free entry on both days, which coincide with the annual Taste Cumbria food festival in the town.
Emma added: “All you need to do to start the ball rolling is register as a seller. You will then be sent a link where you can download your seller instructions, labels and catalogue sheet. Once you have all your items labelled and listed, they can then be dropped off before the sale (details on the instructions) and we do the rest!
“After the sale you can collect any unsold items then wait for your cheque to arrive in the post!
Sellers receive 70 per cent of the item price, with 30 per cent going to Kirkgate Arts and Heritage. If you wish to, you can donate 100 per cent of your takings to Kirkgate Arts, just let staff know when you come to drop off your items.
It’s just £3 to register for a seller code. Each seller code is allocated 20 smaller items (such as sports clothing, pair of trainers, bag of golf balls, badminton racket) and 4 larger items (such as bicycle, rowing machine, skis).
If you have a lot of items to sell, you are welcome to register more than once — you will be given a different code for each registration.
“We do all the selling on the day,” added Emma. “Sellers do not need to come to the sale. We do that bit for you.”
