The Cumbrian rain couldn’t dampen spirits at the first Sunbeams September Stroll.
Over 90 people and several dogs took part in the fundraising event for The Annie Mawson’s Sunbeams Music Trust, which saw them tackle the Keswick to Threlkeld trail and raise over £3,500 last Saturday.
Jules Blundell, fundraiser for the charity, said: “There was something very magical about this day, despite the weather the energy and goodwill was amazing, so many smiley faces throughout the route.
“Everyone who met our determined Sunbeam Strollers on route could see and feel the determination and pride in every step.”
The charity thanked supporters Dodd and Co, Greggs Bakery, Booths of Keswick, North Lakes Foods and the Penrith Arcade Pet Store, Penrith WI, which donated scones, Keswick Rotarians and Keswick Lions members who marshalled the route and volunteers from the community who gave their time, including Marjery Mallinson and the ladies who managed refreshments at Threlkeld Village Hall.
The cash raised will help the charity deliver its Music for Life and Music for Dignity community music sessions to disabled and disadvantaged children and adults across Cumbria.
