Maryport’s new Promenade cafe will open its doors this week.
Solway View by Redby Coffee, will begin by serving simple hot and cold drinks and cakes from 10am to 3pm on Friday, September 19, and plans to expand the menu over the following weeks.
The café will also have accessible public toilets which will be free for everyone to use whenever the venue is open.
It is operated by Jay Kirby and Jamie Redman and their team from established Maryport business Redby Coffee.
The cafe is part of £12 million of central Government-funded regeneration projects in Maryport.
Jay Kirby, of Redby Coffee, said: “We are really excited to open Solway View in one of the best locations on the west coast.
“We’ll be keeping it simple at first with cakes, drinks and ice cream, but we have some great plans to expand the menu once we’re up and running.
“From dog walkers and families enjoying the beach, to those enjoying the England Coast Path or simply coming to have a sit on the Prom, the café will be the perfect place to stop.”
Ricky Fee, director of Workington-based contractor Stobbarts Ltd, which built the café, said: “It’s been great to see the Prom café taking shape and I know the people of the town are looking forward to the opening. Our site supervisor and all the operatives and subcontractors have done a great job.
“Maryport has been given a real boost thanks to multi-million-pound investment. The café is another valuable addition, and I wish the operator every success.
“Stobbarts also led the refurbishment of the new Shipping Brow Gallery and, as a company, we are delighted to have played a part in the regeneration of this historic coastal town.”
Leader of Cumberland Council, Councillor Mark Fryer, said: “The Prom café is another brilliant venue designed to drive even more footfall to Maryport and will be a great addition to the growing number of new businesses in the town.
“I think it will be a fantastic spot, whatever the weather, for locals and visitors alike.”
