
A bag found in a Whitehaven pub which sparked a major incident contained a child’s chemistry set.
Police have issued an update about the incident, which happened on September 10.
Officers were called by staff at the Snecklifter pub on Duke Street about a suspicious bag found on the premises.
The area was cordoned off as a precautionary measure and the bomb squad was called, who assessed the items.
They said the items did not pose any risk.
At the time, police said initial enquiries found that the bag had been in the pub for around three months.
Today, September 19, Cumbria police issued a statement
The force said: “Following an investigation into the items identified we can confirm the items include a child’s chemistry set. These have no risk to the public.
“There remains no criminal offences identified.
“We are not actively looking to speak to anyone in relation to the incident.”
