An emergency road closure has been put in place for a West Cumbrian road due to flooding.
The A5086 between Crossgates and Mockerkin is closed due to excessive flooding, said Cumberland Council.
It added: “Our teams have been working on site with a gully wagon and JCB to try and clear the water, but the volume is not draining quickly enough.
“As the flooding is on a bad bend of a high-speed section, it presents a significant accident risk.
“The road will remain closed until the weather improves and water levels reduce.”
The official signed diversion is via the A66 and A595 (Cockermouth to Egremont).
The council added: “Local drivers may be familiar with alternative routes, but please take extra care.”
